About Us
Kuriakose Gregorios College,
Pampady, situated on the- lush green 'Kilimala Kunnu', hardly a
kilometer South-West of Alampally Junction, is a unique temple of
higher learning in many respects.
An institution that strives towards excellence with
indefatigable zeal, K.G. College had its humble beginnings, way back
in 1981 in the ITC buildings at Pothenpuram, close to the sacred
tomb of Pampady Thirumeni in whose hallowed name the college was
established. On 14th September 1981, the foundation stone
of the new college building was laid and within a year, the college
was shifted to the new premises. The two decades that followed
witnessed the success saga of the college. Today K.G. College has
acquired fame and name as one of the best colleges under the Mahatma
Gandhi University.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. The primary aim of the college, at the time of its
inception was to perpetuate the sacred memory of Kuriakose Mar
Gregorios (Pampady Thirumeni), the Saintly Metropolitan of the Kottayam Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church. The College bears
the name of the Patron saint and tries to do justice to his vision
and
mission.
2. In keeping with the vision of the late lamented Metropolitan,
whose life was a glowing beacon of charity and compassion, the
college specially caters to the weaker sections of society.
3. This co-educational institution aims at developing the physical,
spiritual, intellectual, moral and aesthetic powers of the students
so that they may transform themselves into "intellectually trained,
morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired men and
women".
4. The curricular and co-curricular activities of the college are so
well planned and efficiently executed that the students have access
to the best means of formation and information to achieve academic
excellence and to succeed in every field of life and activity by
developing a sense of discipline, social responsibility and service
to
the community and nation.
